Truth Matters More!!!

John Wells, CEO of The Cross Movement Records, issued a press release this month making the following statements:

--It is with much grief, severe disappointment and an overwhelming fear of the Lord that Cross Movement Records is sad to
announce that we will be discontinuing the forwarding and promotion
of the Artist and Minister, The Ambassador AKA William “Duce”
Branch, due to recent findings of moral failure in his
marriage. It is CMR’s past, current and prayerfully, future
position that living in moral compromise is unacceptable and never
allowable in the lives of any of the ministers that we co-labor
with. We continue to hold up the teachings of Christ as
the standard for all Christians and especially those in Christian
leadership and public ministry. Although it is a rare find
these days, discipline is still one of the true marks of the true
Church…--

First off let me say that I have absolutely no sympathy for Ambassador’s actions. For those of you who don’t understand what
“moral failure in his marriage” means, it’s just the politically
correct, Christian way to say that he was screwing around on his
wife. I am not at all trying to support Ambassadors decisions
because they’re totally wrong.

But this brings in to question a much bigger issue, which is just a philosophical disagreement between me and “The Cross Movement.” I
believe that ousting a person from a record label or a rap group
because of problems in his own life or in his own marriage
misrepresents our job as Christians. Moreover, it seems more like a
PR move (cover your a--!) than it would be a ministry move.

Even the cruel world doesn’t operate this backwards. Let’s say an artist has a drug abuse problem, the world doesn’t just kick him
out and say “we can’t be associated with you anymore.” Most of the
time we walk them through rehab, tell them to take a break and get
this problem together before coming back.

Where did our compassion go? Maybe we never had it. When did we start requiring that an imperfect people actually could be perfect?
Then when it comes out that they’re not perfect, what in the world
is wrong with a little spiritual rehab?

I do understand that when a minister falls it sucks. Lives are hurt, families are hurt, and people are disappointed. But a
minister is no exception to the principal that falling is
unequivocally a part of walking. As a Christian, it is our
responsibility, our duty, to not judge a human being based on his
mistakes. We do not leave a wounded soldier on the battlefield!
Even if it’s a high ranking soldier, WE DO NOT HANG HIM OUT TO
DRY!
It is our obligation to pick him up, carry him on our
back, and nurse him back to health.

There is a reason why we’re losing so many people to other religions or atheism. We are too busy playing God to stay
in our lane. We are judgmental, we have lost compassion, and we no
longer care about “Team Christian” (if we ever cared.)

We have forgotten that we all are just one fly & sexy chick away from falling ourselves.
